FIRST LADY FINALLY GETS AROUND TO FULFILLING HER CAMPAIGN PROMISE

Remember when Michelle Obama, during the 2008 campaign, promised to make military families the focus of her work as First Lady?

Well, other than a few drive-by photo-ops, a speech before military brass here and there, and press releases---she has done zip. Certainly, nothing that would REALLY help military families with the tremendous burdens they carry and challenges they must meet on a daily basis.

However, now that the 2012 election is starting to ramp up, she's REALLY going to fulfill that campaign promise, by golly.

I'm sorry--it really is just too much. Not only does the president break his campaign promises, but so does the first lady.

Her #1 focus since she became first lady has been living the lifestyle of the rich and famous. The Obamas have thrown many lavish WH galas, lots of them to try to impress the Hollywood stars they'd love to become BFFs with.

They go on lavish vacations--on our dime--and take their family and any number of taggers-on with them.

They had the nerve to host an outrageously expensive, gaudy, and tasteless extravaganza for the Prime Minister of India--where most of American jobs have been outsourced--at a time when unemployment in America was skyrocketing.

Instead of showing compassion for the American people, they flaunt their wasting of taxpayer funds on their taxpayer-funded wannabe-Elite lifestyle and travels.

I know presidents live well in the WH, and parties are not unusual...but during a freaking depression with obscenely rising unemployment? When newly homeless families are being churned out of their homes on a daily basis?

IMO, it shows a lack of class, graciousness and up-bringing. Worse, it shows a shocking "I-got-mine-who-cares-about-you" attitude towards the American people. They could not make it more clear that they have zero compassion for suffering Americans.

The comparisons to Marie Antoinette and King Louis the XVI are quite impressive. Obama's 2012 campaign motto, if he had an ounce of honesty in him, would be "Let Them Eat Cake."

I won't EVEN start on her choice of McChrystal, the asshole who used his military power to cover up Pat Tillman's murder. I don't think Current has enough space on its server for me to address THAT one.

Quite a pair Michelle Obama and Stanley McChrystal will make. I hope Rolling Stone gets a good interview from him about his experiences with the First Lady.

McChrystal joining first lady's effort to aid military families

Retired Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal will serve as an advisor to First Lady Michelle Obama's Joining Forces campaign. The effort aims to enlist all sectors of society in a large-scale effort to help troops and their families.

April 12, 2011

Retired Army Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, who was relieved of command in Afghanistan last year, will advise a new national campaign led by First Lady Michelle Obama to help the nation's troops and their families, a White House official said.

McChrystal has been selected as an unpaid advisor to Joining Forces, an effort the first lady, along with Jill Biden, the vice president's wife, will unveil Tuesday at the White House.

The goal is to enlist all sectors of society in ensuring "military families have the support they have earned," the first lady's office said.

The campaign's other unpaid advisor will be Patty Shinseki, wife of Eric K. Shinseki, the retired general and former Army chief of staff who is secretary of the Veterans Affairs Department.

McChrystal and Shinseki will serve as advisors at the nonpartisan Center for a New American Security, a Washington think tank that is the lead nonprofit partner to Mrs. Obama's effort, said Nathaniel Fick, the center's chief executive...."
